Named after the first spacecraft to reach the moon in the late 1950s, Private hotel Luna2 is architecturally modernist. Inspired by works from the late 50’s, a style is describes as “funked up modernism” by owner Melanie Hall. The interior is intended to appeal to the creative senses of guests, whilst providing the comfort and relaxed atmosphere.
Extravagant to the last detail, all five hotel‘ bedrooms are individually splashed in bright hues of red, green, yellow, orange and purple. They are fully-equipped with high-tech services such as: Bose sound systems, Mac computer, Xbox, iPod, LCD screens and wireless Internet. The interplay of colors and the fabrics are heavily loaded with materials. Bisazza mosaics are featured throughout, even down to the base of the 20-metre pool, where Marilyn Monroe lies forever young in her renowned white dress.

Private ladies' night photography parties produce glamour shots
When Bob Gassen started HumaNature Photography 10 years ago, he never imagined he'd be hosting private photography sessions for groups of up to seven scantily-dressed women at a time. But for the past year, that's just what he and his female staff have been doing after hours in his Kirkland, Wash.-studio.
They call them "All Wrapped Up" parties, but they're more like ladies night wine and hors d'oeuvres gatherings — with lingerie, Gassen says. And they've become increasingly popular for Valentine's Day.
"They (participants) get tastefully staged boudoir-style photos that accentuate their most positive features and make them feel glamorous," Gassen says. "We've done about a dozen of them for single women and up to five or six of their friends, and even for couples. We do them after hours, and close the doors to the studio so we can protect their privacy and work uninterrupted."
Gassen turned his photography hobby into a business after the high-tech implosion left him without technology-related work, and found the transition into all-digital photography comfortable.
"When I first started, I wanted to travel and take nature and landscape photography," Gassen says. "But I quickly realized there weren't too many openings at National Geographic."
His first paid job was taking portraits of some 400 member families at a local country club — a job he says would have been impossible to do if he had to use paper contact sheets and wait weeks for families to make their selections and place their orders. "Today, we book an hour for a shoot, and show customers 10 - 15 shots on a laptop computer right after we take them, so we can do them over if they don't like them, or take their orders right away."
Ladies night at HumaNature's studio comes after the more traditional work photographing families, shooting corporate head shots, and covering graduations and special events. They've been so successful, Gassen says he's decided to extend his Valentine's Day promotion through March 7 — the end of the Northwest Women's Show at Qwest Field Event Center in Seattle.
He charges $95 for one "All Wrapped Up" sitting, or a promotional price of $150 per sitting for two or more subjects. Professionally retouched prints cost an additional $35 for each 4x6-inch size up to $70 each for 8x10s. HumaNature also can produce larger, custom prints, slide shows, calendars, albums and other photographic specialty items.
"It's wonderful to see the friendships among the women, and how supportive they are of each other," Gassen adds. "We can produce some really 'WOW' images through the magic of photography and retouching. It's a lot of fun."
